DETAILS
Navigation will be mostly straightforward, though a few surprises will keep teams on their toes—so take time to get comfortable with reading a TOPO map. All maps and race materials will be waterproof. Train for the climbs, both on foot and on the bike, as elevation gains will test your endurance. Be ready for any weather conditions; Colorado’s high elevations in this season can bring anything from cold, rainy nights in the 40s to sunny daytime highs in the 80s. If you have the opportunity to visit and train in Colorado before the race, take it—it’s worth it.
Official finishers are only required to visit all the transition areas from the start to the finish line. All checkpoints are optional; however, teams are ranked by how many checkpoints they retrieve and when they finish. All courses are subject to change without notice due to permissions from government agencies.
Every other year, this event will rotate between 72 hours and 36 hours.
