DETAILS

The Blue Ridge Adventure Race welcomes participants of all experience levels—from seasoned competitors to first-time adventurers. While the race is open to everyone, all participants should come prepared for a demanding and rewarding challenge that will test endurance, navigation, and teamwork.

The 24-hour race is back fro 2026! Designed for experienced racers seeking the ultimate endurance test, this grueling route will cover an estimated 60–90 miles of mountain biking, 18–36 miles of trekking, and 12–24 miles of canoeing through the rugged Blue Ridge Mountains. Racers will face steep climbs, fast descents, remote checkpoints, and long paddle sections under the stars. Expect advanced navigation, varied terrain, and a true test of grit and determination. Teams will be self-supported between transition areas, with map updates and strategic decisions playing a key role in success.

The 8-hour adventure race remains the perfect choice for sport or family teams eager to discover the outdoors and experience the spirit of adventure racing. With simple navigation and scenic routes, teams will uncover hidden corners of Blue Ridge. Depending on pace and ability, racers can expect roughly 20–30 miles of mountain biking, 6–12 miles of trekking, and 4–8 miles of canoeing.

Check-in takes place downtown on Saturday, where teams will receive instructions and a pre-plotted map. All teammates must be present to check in—arriving late means less prep time. The starting discipline will be revealed at check-in. A staging area will be provided for bikes and paddling gear, and for the 8-hour race, we’ll handle gear transport as needed.
